Construction of a second R&D Center

SAMCO held a ceremony for the construction its second Research and Development Center on November 20th, 2007. The second R&D center is located in the north of the Service and Support Center which was opened next to the headquarters (67 Waraya-cho, Takeda, Fushimi-ku,) last year.

The second R&D center aims for extensive research in nitrides (GaN), oxides (ZnO), ferroelectrics (Bismuth titanate) and the development of capital equipment for crystal growth.

From the early stages of its history SAMCO has been a key player in the semiconductor and materials market such as LED/LD. SAMCO has dramatically increased its sales volume by shifting its main focus from R&D-based equipment to high-volume production etching and CVD systems. The construction of the new facility is scheduled for completion in March 2008.
