Technical
Collaborations between SAMCO and Universities in Asia

SAMCO has been actively
promoting joint research, and exchange of technical information and research
with prominent Universities both within and outside Japan. SAMCO, a company
which was born global and proactively manages its international
relationships exemplifies the “Kyoto Model” of development. For this reason
SAMCO receives numerous requests for research collaborations and visits from
both scientific and corporate researchers worldwide.
On February 27th,
seven MBA students and their professor from Korea’s Nigawa University
visited SAMCO’s headquarters in Kyoto, Japan. The students showed great
interest in SAMCO’s management and administration areas. Furthermore the
University expressed an interest to form a collaborative internship program
and strong relationship with SAMCO.
At around the same time
Professor Trin Quang Thong who is researching MEMS at Vietnam’s University
of Electrical Engineering also visited SAMCO was given a short course in
silicon etching by scientists and engineers of the R&D center. On the 14th
of March, Seika University’s Professor Kiyoko Higashi and the University of
Engineering’s Dean, Professor Okikin came to Kyoto as part of our
collaboration agreement in order to discuss the Nano technology skills which
can be applied to the next generation of communication tools. All parties
exchanged ideas and opinions regarding the state of our collaborative
research. Furthermore, last year SAMCO proactively accepted talented PHD
students from these universities for internships.
As of March 2008 research
has also begun in the second R&D center at SAMCO, and therefore technical
collaborations are expected to increase even more. SAMCO is actively
pursuing to strengthen such collaborations between academic institutions in
both technological and management areas.
