On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Samco Inc. welcomed a group of 23 students and faculty members from the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) to its production facility in Kyoto as part of the university’s “UCA in Japan Program.”
The program offers students from a variety of academic fields, including chemistry, economics, and business, the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, history, economics, language, and industry during a two-week study trip across Japan.
During their visit to Samco, the students were introduced to the company’s founding story, business background, and role in the semiconductor industry. The program also included an overview of basic semiconductor manufacturing processes and an introduction to how plasma is used in deposition and etching technologies.
The students showed strong interest in Samco’s technologies and asked many questions, including what kinds of materials are used in plasma deposition and etching processes.
Samco Chairman and Founder Dr. Osamu Tsuji then spoke with the group about his personal history, the origins of Samco, and the values that have shaped the company’s development. In his talk, Dr. Tsuji emphasized the importance of innovation, originality, lifelong learning, and contributing to society.
During the Q&A session, students asked Dr. Tsuji about his background in chemistry, the skills needed to build an innovative company, and how young people can approach their future careers. Dr. Tsuji encouraged the students to explore different paths, take on challenges, and learn from mistakes as they discover the direction that is right for them.

Samco values opportunities to share its knowledge, history, and approach to technology with students and visitors from around the world. Through visits such as this, the company hopes to deepen understanding of the semiconductor industry while supporting international education and cross-cultural exchange.
The visit by the University of Central Arkansas marks the sixth university visit to Samco from institutions around the world in 2026, reflecting Samco’s continued commitment to education, global engagement, and the advancement of industrial science.
